Rodney Lange

RODNEY LANGE was born on April 18, 1935 to August and Margaret (Frahm) Lange at the family’s farm place in Rock County, Minnesota, near Luverne. He spent his childhood years on the farm, attending country school and helping out his dad. His folks sold the farm when he was 16 and the family moved to Brewster, Minnesota. He worked a few different jobs before taking employment at Hansen Silo Company based out of Lake Lillian, Minnesota in March of 1954. He was united in marriage to Barbara Cross on September 27, 1956 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Luverne. The couple made their home on an acreage outside of Luverne where they were blessed with two children, David and Shari. Rodney continued to work for Hansen Silo Company until their closure in 1982. He then worked various jobs, including driving dairy truck for a number of years and working clean-up crew at IBP in Luverne. In 2009 Rodney formally retired. Although Rodney worked many jobs throughout his life, his real work and love was caring for his horses. Barbara preceded him in death on March 6, 1992. Rodney continued to reside at their home. In June 2014 he became a resident at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota where on Friday, October 17, 2014 he died peacefully at the age of 79 years, five months and 29 days.

Rodney is survived by his two children, David and his wife Deb Lange of Rapid City, South Dakota and Shari Lange of Luverne, Minnesota; two granddaughters, Bobbie Jo and her husband Eric Ahrendt of Hardwick, Minnesota and Jennalee and her husband Cody Lanoue of Magnolia, Minnesota; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and his parents, August and Margaret.
