Rosemary Kellen

August 17, 1924 — April 6, 2011

was born to John and Katherine (Gerady) Scheffler on August 17, 1924 in Ellsworth, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm near Ellsworth where she attended country school. On October 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Raphael Kellen at S. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth. Following their marriage, they farmed near Adrian, Minnesota. In 1959, they purchased a farm in Rock Township of Pipestone County, near Woodstock, Minnesota. After Raphael’s retirement, they moved into Pipestone. On November 1, 2008, they became residents at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 2, 2009. On Wednesday, April 6, 2011, she died at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone at the age of 86 years, seven months and 19 days.

Rosemary was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxillary and the Senior Citizens of Woodstock. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of various card clubs. She also enjoyed gardening, dancing, and playing bingo. She was a great cook and loved having family and friends come to visit.

She is lovingly remembered by her three children, Diane and her husband Robert Draper of Tracy, Minnesota, Lois and her husband Dean Warner of Walnut Grove, Minnesota and Mary Jo Kellen and her special friend, Dave Finseth of Rochester, Minnesota; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and his wife Ida Scheffler of Cold Spring, Minnesota and Andrew Scheffler of Adrian, Minnesota; three sisters, Celine Klein, Henrietta and her husband Ted, Jr. Bullerman, and Mildred “Toddy” and her husband Jim Voss, all of Adrian, Minnesota; special family member, Kathleen (Reining) Poegel of Long Prairie, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raphael; two sons, Donald and Richard; one grandson, Keith Kellen; and one brother, Elmer Scheffler.
