ROXANNE MARIE PARSONS-GIANGRANDE was born on July 7, 1969, to Roger and Marjorie (Derby) Parsons in Pipestone, Minnesota. She enjoyed being with her family and taking trips up north. She attended school in Pipestone, and received her diploma She worked for Fey Industries in Edgerton, Minnesota and resided in Pipestone. She also worked for Larson’s in Brookings and lived there for a time. She then attended Minnesota West in Pipestone, receiving her Massage Certificate which she used while working at Hot Spot. She then helped prevent domestic violence through different means and worked at the Wholeness Center in Flandreau, South Dakota for 17 years. She also spent her time driving elders to Sisseton. She taught adolescent students at Flandreau Indian School the importance of self-awareness as well as being aware of the signs of domestic violence. On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, Roxanne passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth at the age of 51 years, two months, and two days.
Roxanne helped with the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” community event to raise awareness about gender based violence and also prepared meals and served for the Dakota 38+2. She loved doing beadwork, baking, listening to music, camping and bonfires, and taking sister-trips. She enjoyed traveling to different places and shopping! Roxanne loved having her children over and she would sit back and soak in the love. Roxanne had a giving heart and was always the first to help anyone and stood firmly beside her family. She was a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed.
Roxanne is remembered by her three children, Ryan Pritchett of Rochester, Minnesota, and Jade and Ethan Feyereisen both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; her mother, Marjorie Parsons of Pipestone; and siblings, Mark Pederson of Pipestone, Kevin (Rose Zephier) Pederson of Flandreau, South Dakota, Cindy Pederson (special friend, Rick Moen) of Flandreau, South Dakota, Denise (Chaske) Hill of Sisseton, South Dakota, Christine Wallenburg of Jasper, Minnesota, Leah (Jason Armstrong) Parsons of Flandreau, and Sheila (Dane Winge) Parsons of Pipestone. She was preceded in death by her father, Roger William Parsons; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
