Ruby Drumm

RUBY MARIAN DRUMM. . .

was born to Richard C. and Matilda (Anderson) Nelson on June 2, 1920 on the family farm in Eden Township of Pipestone County, Minnesota where she was raised. She attended school in District #66 in Ihlen, Minnesota and then attended high school in Pipestone, Minnesota, graduating in 1938. On September 28, 1940, she was united in marriage to John Drumm at her parents’ farm. Following their marriage, they farmed in Eden Township. In 1965, they moved into Pipestone where Ruby was employed in the Dietary Department at the Pipestone County Medical Center until 1970. In 1974, they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. While living in Sioux Falls, she worked in the apartments where they resided until her retirement in 1982. John preceded her in death on April 29, 1993. After his death, she continued to reside in Sioux Falls until July 1, 1994 when she moved to the Storybrook Apartments in Pipestone. On September 8, 2015, Ruby was admitted into hospice care at Our House of Murray County in Slayton, Minnesota, where she died peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the age of 95 years, three months, and 18 days.

Ruby was baptized on June 17, 1920 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ihlen where she was confirmed on May 17, 1934. While living in Sioux Falls, she was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was currently a member of First Lutheran Church in Pipestone where she was active in the Patience Circle. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Daniel Drumm and his wife Marian of Marysville, California; one grandchild, Lenae Nichols; one sister-in-law, June Nelson of Owatonna, Minnesota; one brother-in-law, Fred Drumm of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Barbara Myles; her grandson, John Nichols; her parents; two brothers, G. Andrew Nelson and Kenneth J. Nelson; one brother-in-law, Robert Drumm; and one sister-in-law, Isabelle Langford.
