Ruby M. Haken

November 22, 1934 — August 15, 2018

RUBY MAXINE HAKEN was born on November 22, 1934 to Henry and Ellen (Reynolds) Lichtsinn in Arco, Minnesota. She was baptized in the Methodist faith on the family farm and attended country school in Arco. On December 31, 1976 Ruby was united in marriage to Larry Haken in Watertown, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Tyler, Minnesota for the majority of their lives. On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, Ruby passed away at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 83 years, eight months, and 23 days.

Throughout her life, Ruby enjoyed the outdoors while gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels. She had a passion for animals especially all of her dogs. She also enjoyed working on puzzles. Her family was held very dear to her and she loved to spend time with them, especially while playing games. Ruby always put her own needs aside to give more to her family, friends, neighbors, or a complete stranger. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and a great friend. Though she led a humble life, Ruby will always be remembered for her energetic demeanor.

Ruby is survived by her husband, Larry; children, Lorraine Maleyko of Tyler, Allan Sik of Tyler, Cindy (Lyle) Page of Sherburn, Minnesota, and LeeAnn (Shawn) Teig of Lynd, Minnesota; siblings, Fritz (Diane) Lichtsinn of Marshall, Minnesota, Herman (Lavonne) Lichtsinn of Lake Benton, Minnesota, George (Karen) Lichtsinn of Painesville, Minnesota, and Tootie “Ellen” Christensen (Lyle Rochel) of Tyler, Minnesota; 6 grandchildren, Eric, Melissa, and Carissa Haken, Russell Bauer, and Jacob and Leah Teig; and 6 great-grandchildren, Ethan Sik, Madison and Morgan Haken, Mackenzie Bauer, and Emma and Isaac Evans.
