Ruth Cora Margaret (Sprink) Meyer . . . .
was born to Carl Herbert and Josephine (Otto) Sprink on January 8, 1920, in Lake Benton, MN, where she was raised and attended school. After her graduation from Lake Benton High School in 1938, she babysat and did house cleaning. On July 5, 1939, she was united in marriage to Benjamin Robert Meyer at the courthouse in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived on various farms in Lincoln County, Minnesota. During this time, Ruth was busy raising the children and helping work on the farm. In 1978 they moved into Lake Benton; and on February 17, 1993, Robert preceded her in death. She moved into the Valley Manor in Lake Benton in October, 1995, and to Divine Providence Nursing Home in Ivanhoe, MN, in April, 2008, where she passed away on October 18, 2014, at the age of 94 years, 9 months, and 10 days.
Ruth was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Benton where she was baptized in February, 1920, and confirmed in July, 1934. She taught Sunday School and was active in the Ladies Aid for many years. She was a caring mother and grandmother and an avid lover of cats.
She is lovingly remembered by her seven children, Janet Kraut of Minneapolis, MN, Philipp Meyer of Sioux Falls, SD, Michael and his wife Marlene of Sioux Falls, SD, Richard of Hot Springs, SD, Betty and her husband Jim McClaran of Pueblo, CO, Tim and his wife Vicki of Westminster, CO, and Jeremy and his wife Deysi of Manhattan, KS; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Heyl of Pipestone, MN; and one brother, Robert Sprink of Rockledge, Fl. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Margaret Skov and Tamara Meyer; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Meyer; one son-in-law, Marvin Skov; one grandson, Timothy Kraut; one granddaughter, Barbara Meyer; her parents; and two sisters, Maria Meyer and Helena Stuart.
