SHARLA FAYE (GORTER) DREW was born on August 21, 1964 to John and Geraldine (Hoff) Gorter in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was baptized and made her profession of faith at the Christian Reformed Church in Pipestone. She was raised on the family farm and attended Edgerton Christian Elementary and SouthWest Christian High School in Edgerton, graduating with the class of 1982. After completing her education, Shar began working for Fey Industries in Edgerton. In the late 80’s she worked for Ellison Meats in Pipestone where she met Bruce Drew. The two were united in marriage on June 2, 1990. She held numerous jobs while taking care of the children. In 1997, Shar began working for Pipestone Artificial Breeders (PAB) until they closed in 2012. Later that year, she started working at New Horizon Farms where she was currently employed. On Monday, May 11, 2015, she died due to an accident at work doing what she loved; at the age of 50 years, 8 months and 20 days.
Shar was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pipestone. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews and grandchildren, helping with 4-H and FFA, especially showing sheep at the Pipestone County Fair, the Minnesota State Fair and the Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Livestock Show. She loved having a good time, whether she was driving the 4020 doing field work or dressing up for Halloween. Shar loved getting together with her family and taking the kids down to the candy store in Hull, Iowa and to the Tulip Festival in Orange City. She was a very compassionate person who would do anything for her friends and family.
