Silverius "Sil" Eischens

June 27, 1931 — July 24, 2019

SILVERIUS "SIL" MARTIN EISCHENS was born on June 27, 1931 to John and Lena (Bairl) Eischens in St. Leo, Minnesota. He was raised on a farm by St. Leo. He attended St. Leo Catholic School and then Clarkfield High School, graduating with the Class of 1949. After high school, he farmed for three years. In November 21, 1953, he was united in marriage to Marcella (Sally) Schmoll at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived in St. Leo where he managed the liquor store. In 1961, they moved to Boyd, Minnesota where he managed the Municipal Liquor store. Then, in 1967, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota. While living in Pipestone, Sil managed the American Legion for years and also leased Dar’s Pizza. In 1981, they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to manage the VFW for four years until moving back to Pipestone in 1984. He then managed the Calumet Bar and Lounge and later was employed at the American Legion, Royal River Casino in Flandreau, South Dakota and Pipestone Country Club. To Sil and Sal, eight is enough kids were born. He was admitted to the Pipestone County Medical Center on July 18, 2019 and then moved on July 20, 2019 to the Pipestone County Hospice House. He died there on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the age of 88 years and 27 days.

He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church where he was involved with Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Lions Club where he enjoyed being a clown. He loved to dance and played drums in a dance band. He also played his accordion for family reunions and at Good Sam, Falls Landing, Jasper Sunrise Village and for the Senior Citizens. He enjoyed playing cards with family and his card club, watching the Twins and the Vikings and game shows. He especially loved watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their events.

Sil is lovingly remembered by his eight children, Howard (LuRaye) Eischens of Byron, Minnesota and their children, Stephanie (Carson) and Tyler; Beverly (Tedd) Evans of Brookings, South Dakota and their daughters, Kelly (Brodie) and Tracy (Andy), Peggy (Matt) Taubert of Pipestone and their children, Colin (Nicole) and Abbey, Nancy (Tony) Mundahl of Kirksville, Missouri and their son, Travis (Kortney), Greg Eischens of Pipestone and his daughter, Nicole (Nick), Jeff (Linette) Eischens of Pipestone, and their sons, Heath (Shelby) and Lucas (Alyssa), Lisa (Mark) Koehne of Pipestone, and their daughters, Rachel (Roman) and Jessica (Tony), and Lori (Clarence) McGee of Pipestone, and their children, Aneisha, Anthony, and Arinn; 15 great-grandchildren, with more on the way; his brother, Mervin Eischens; and many other loving friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally; one great-granddaughter, Kadence; ten of his siblings; and his parents.
