Teresa Marie Johnson was born April 29, 1922 to Ube and Martha (White) Lutterman in Ocheyedan, Iowa. She grew up on various farms until the family settled in rural Balaton. She attended country school through the eighth grade during the Great Depression years. She was a great help to her mother, helping raise the family during difficult days. She was united in marriage to Clarence Johnson on April 30, 1946 at the St. Dionysius parsonage in Tyler, Minnesota. The couple raised their family on a farm south of Lake Benton, Minnesota. She was very active in the farm work in addition to caring for the home. In 1982 they moved into Lake Benton. Clarence died May 4, 1994. Teresa continued to live at home until she moved to Danebod Village in 2008. On November 12, 2015 she died at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler at the age of 93.
Teresa was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lake Benton. She was active in the CCW and Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary. She was a member of Henry Sollie Post #10 Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was known for her fabulous cherry pies. She had an outstanding memory for birth and anniversary dates. She loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Teresa is lovingly remembered by her children, Joanne Johnson (husband Craig Fagerness) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Dale (Cheryl) Johnson of Lake Benton, MN, Roger (Linda) Johnson of Breckenridge, MN, Patricia (Ken) Fogal of Crosby, MN, and Rebecca (Dennis) Brouwer of Purceville, VA; 12 grandchildren: Matthew Johnson, Leslee Burns, Tanner Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Ben Fogal, Sara Bran de Leon, Michelle Bjorklund, Jackie Fogal, Teresa Fogal, Sam Brouwer, Jessica Brouwer, and Charlotte Brouwer; 9 great-grandchildren, Laney, Ethan, Brooks, Ana, Addison, Gabriel, Kadence, Samuel, and Abigail; siblings, Rita (Bud) Medrud of Marshall, MN, Marion (Arden) Swan of Tracy, MN, Alfred Lutterman of White Bear Lake, MN, and Armella (Gary) Deutz of Marshall, MN; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; grandson, Nathan Johnson; brothers, Edward, Raymond, Willard, and Delmar Lutterman; and sisters, Margaret Kelly and Rosella Lanoue.
