THERESA ANN BURMEISTER was born in St. Petersburg, FL on June 24, 1964 to Ezra and Marvel (Behnke) Foster. In 1972, the family moved to Holland, MN where she was raised. She graduated from Ruthton High School in 1982 and then Pipestone Area Vocational Technical Institute in their secretarial program. Theresa married Clark Burmeister in 1992 and they were blessed with three beautiful children. In addition to raising the kids, Theresa worked at various jobs, including Hardees, Bayliner and Coborn’s. She and Clark later divorced and Theresa moved to Sioux Falls, SD. She worked at various call centers, where she excelled and won numerous awards, which enabled her to travel and really experience life. Most recently, she was employed at Midco doing sales and retention. She loved her coworkers and enjoyed being at work just to be around them. In August 2021, Theresa was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. On Friday, January 7, 2022, while at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, she lost her battle at the age of 57 years, six months and 13 days.
Theresa loved her children and especially relished sharing Sunday dinners with them. She enjoyed Sunday drives down country roads, searching the sky for eagles. She also enjoyed having a smoke and a cold one, which led to many lasting friendships and fond memories. Theresa had an outstanding memory and rarely missed someone’s birthday or anniversary. She was an avid NASCAR fan and she could be heard cheering on her favorite driver, Kevin Harvick. She also cheered on the Minnesota Vikings posting SKOL! on Facebook when they scored. Ask her any question and her answer would consistently be, “Not since breakfast!” She thought she was hilarious! Her kids, not so much. Most recently, she took up baking and made many delicious Christmas treats.
Theresa is lovingly remembered by her three children, Ryan Foster, Marshae Burmeister (fiancé, Curtis Johnson), and Chayse Burmeister (partner, Kyanna Hall), all of Sioux Falls, SD; one granddaughter, Lily Foster; mother, Marvel Foster of Pipestone; three siblings, William Foster of Pipestone, Viola (Marlin) Van Meeteren of Luverne, and Anna Foster of Duluth; two half-siblings, Louise (Bill) Nicodemus of Monmouth, IA and Jim (Terese) Hartwig of Olin, IA; as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Ezra Foster and sister, Deborah Schumann.
