THOMAS CHARLES BONNETT was born August 23, 1930 to David and Clara (Baldwin) Bonnett at the Luverne Community Hospital in Luverne, Minnesota. He was raised on the family farm a mile and a half south of Magnolia, Minnesota. He attended school in Magnolia. Following his education, Tom worked on the farm until enlisting with the military in February of 1951. He served six months in the Korea and 15 months in Japan. On February 1, 1954, Tom was honorably discharged and returned to his family’s home. He held various jobs throughout his work life. He drove bus, built grain bins, operated a road grader for Rock County, worked at Hullet gravel pit and at the elevator in Magnolia for a number of years. He formally retired at the age of 62 years and enjoyed visiting his folks in California.
Tom was a member of the Hardwick American Legion and a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. On Friday, July 8, 2011, Tom died peacefully at the Minnesota Veterans Home at the age of 80 years, 8 months, and 15 days.
Tom is survived by his brother, Lloyd Bonnett of Luverne; a nephew, David Bonnett of Willmar, Minnesota; a niece, Joyce Molstad of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Clara Bonnett.
