TIFFANY BURMEISTER MCGUNEGILL was born on November 25, 1979 to Lenten Burmeister and Sheila Hein in Pipestone, Minnesota where she was raised. She was baptized on February 29, 1980 and confirmed in 1995 at First Lutheran Church in Pipestone. She received her education in Pipestone, graduating from Pipestone Jasper High School in 1998. After graduation, she attended Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota where she received her teaching degree. In 2001, Tiffany started dating Patrick McGunegill. In 2002, she became employed with the Luverne School District teaching Special Education for the Junior High and Senior High. On November 27, 2004, she was united in marriage to Patrick McGunegill in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm west of Ihlen, Minnesota where they raised their three children, Logan, Mabry and Max. In June 2014, Tiffany was diagnosed with Polymyositis with Interstitial Lung disease. She was admitted on Wednesday, November 11, 2014 to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she died on Thursday, November 20, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 34 years, 11 months and 25 days.
Tiffany was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pipestone where she taught Sunday school. She was an active board member for Progress, Inc. and Luverne Staff Development. She was also a Luverne Teacher Induction Coordinator and a member of the Luverne Education Association and the National Education Association. She enjoyed crafting, reading, baking and living on the farm. She was always willing to help anyone and was a kind, caring person. She always stepped up to the plate. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t try. Most importantly, Tiffany loved the time she spent with her husband and children, family and friends.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Pat McGunegill of Jasper, Minnesota; three children, Logan, Mabry and Max, all of Jasper; her parents, Sheila (Allan) Johnson of Pipestone and Lenten (Staci) Burmeister of Pipestone; five siblings, Keegan (Molly) Burmeister of Williston, North Dakota, Kelsie (Jesse) Bleyenburg of Edgerton, Minnesota, Zach Burmeister of Pipestone, Scott (Steph) Johnson of Jeffers, Minnesota and Tiffany (Luke) Molitor of Tracy, Minnesota; father and mother-in-law, Pat and Roselyn McGunegill of Parker City, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Melissa (Tim) Mercer of Bloomington, Indiana and Sarah (Roy) Martin of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandparents, Norma Hein of Pipestone, Shirley Burmeister of Pipestone, Ed and Kathy O’Hearn of Woodstock, Minnesota and special family, Dean and Nancy Stoltenberg of Jasper and Stacy Stoltenberg of Santa Maria, California; two nieces, Emmy Lou Mercer and Amelia Mercer of Bloomington; and two nephews, Elijah Mercer of Bloomington and Emmett Bleyenburg of Edgerton. Tiffany is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Darrel Hein and her paternal grandfather, William Burmeister.
