Valoris Strenge

VALORIS MARIE (GRUMMONS) STRENGE was born on August 4, 1928 to William & Louisa (Selken) Grummons. She was the youngest of six children. Valoris graduated from Frederic High School in 1946. In 1948, Valoris married John Strenge Jr. They lived in Minneapolis until 1964 when they transferred to Kansas City, MO. Valoris was a dedicated wife & mother, but also very active in her Avon & Tupperware business. Later in life, Valoris took tax courses and began working until retiring from H&R Block. Valoris was active in her church, American Legion Auxiliary, AARP and various other organizations. Jack and Valoris enjoyed traveling around the United States to square dance conventions and World War reunions. She also collected information on their family genealogy, enjoyed playing bingo, and loved visiting family and friends. Valoris acquired quite a novelty shoe collection from their travels. On November 30, 2014, Valoria passed peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 26 days.

Valoris is lovingly remembered by her son & daughter-in-law Gary & Kathie Strenge (MN); grandchildren, Jennifer & Greg Zimmerman (MT), Carissa & Philip Johnson (MN), Garrison & Amber Strenge (WI); great grandchildren, Jerrin, Katie Rose & Derrik; one sister-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Valoris was preceded in death by her loving husband, John “Jack”; her infant daughter, Judith; her parents; brothers, Lloyd & George; sisters, Verna, Vernell & Velva.
