VERDEAN W. TIEDEMAN was born on July 20, 1940 to parents August and Minnie (Meyer) Tiedeman on a farm near Rock Rapids, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. In 1947, Verdean and his family moved to Woodstock, Minnesota. He attended school at Woodstock until the 8th grade and graduated with the Pipestone Area High School Class of 1958.
After graduation, he worked for Armour’s Creamery in Pipestone hauling eggs until 1974. In 1965, Verdean bought a farm in rural Pipestone, where he still resided today, and raised cattle, sheep and pigs as well as crop farming. For many years Verdean was a well known sheep shearer in the area. In 2002, Verdean retired, but still enjoyed helping on the farm.
In 1958, Verdean was united in marriage. To this union, he was blessed with four children: Steve, Teresa, Sherri and Scott.
Verdean enjoyed softball in his younger years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, playing cards and participating in tractor pulls.
Verdean passed away on June 21, 2013 at his home; he had lived to reach the age of 72 years, 11 months and one day.
Verdean is survived by his children: Steve (Jane) Tiedeman of Woodstock, MN, Teresa (Kent) Bucher of Pipestone, MN and Sherri (Dave) Halbur of Iona, MN; grandchildren: Jamie Rollag of Sioux Falls, SD, Josh Rollag of Holland, MN and Wesley and Macy Halbur of Iona, MN; great-grandchild, McKeeley Rollag; brothers: Vernie (Marlis) Tiedeman of Kinney, MN and Wally (Marilyn) Tiedeman of Buhl, MN; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his youngest son, Scott; son-in-law, Brian Rollag; and an infant brother, Richard.
