was born on February 27, 1932 in Luverne, Minnesota and was raised by his grandmother. Following her death at a young age, he moved to his uncle, Ed Bode’s farm near Cazenovia, Minnesota . He helped his uncle farm and enjoyed taking care of the cattle and feeding them. In 1979, his uncle was admitted to Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. Verne did not drive, so he would walk ten miles every day in order to visit his uncle, Ed. He remained on his uncle’s farm until November 18, 1980, when he became a resident at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. Verne attended Ruthton DAC and later was employed at Progress in Pipestone. Verne died on Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone at the age of 79 years, six months and 22 days.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone. He loved his large garden and was proud of the vegetables he raised for many years. He also enjoyed doing woodwork and was a John Deere equipment fan.
He is remembered by his special friend, Carol DeBruin of Pipestone, Minnesota and several cousins.
Blessed be his memory!
