VIOLA RUTH HARTSON….
was born to Charles and Edna (Coats) Miller on February 1, 1925 in Winford, South Dakota where she was raised on the family farm and attended country school. Upon completion of her education, she helped on the family farm.
In 1945, she moved to DeSmet, South Dakota and in 1950, moved to Madison, South Dakota. She later moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she worked at a nursing home. Then in 1967, she moved to Pipestone, Minnesota. On June 6, 1987, she was united in marriage to Clifford Curtis Hartson at Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they resided in Pipestone. Clifford preceded her in death on November 30, 1998.
Viola continued to live in Pipestone until June 2000, when she moved to Jasper, Minnesota. In January of 2008, she moved into the Sunrise Village in Jasper. In 2011, Viola moved into the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton where she resided until she passed away on July 6, 2013.
Viola was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Howard, South Dakota. She loved to watch the soaps on T.V. She also liked to do word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and embroidery.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister Edith Green of Newport News, Virginia, several nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and four sisters, Ann McCracken, Betty Poppen, Florence Wolf and Doris Pulford.
