Violet Leola Norgaard was born to William and Ethel (Larson) Norgaard on September 15, 1933 (along with her twin brother, Virgil) on the family farm on the shore of Lake Benton near the town of Tyler, Minnesota. She was baptized on November 19, 1933 at First English Lutheran Church in Tyler, and later confirmed there on May 18, 1947. She moved with her family to a farm south of Tyler in 1938, and attended Tyler Public School through the eighth grade. She lived and helped on the family farm until her parents retired, and then moved with them to their home in Tyler. After several years, she became a resident of the REM home in Marshall, Minnesota. She worked at the Developmental Achievement Center (DAC) until her retirement. She later became a resident of Avera Morningside Heights in Marshall, where on Monday, October 24, 2016 Violet died at the age of 83.
Violet was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Tyler. She enjoyed music, REM activities, bowling, dancing, movies, and going to worship.
Violet is lovingly remembered by brothers Virgil Norgaard and his wife Betty of Tyler, and Glen Norgaard and his wife Shirley of Faribault, Minnesota; sisters Joyce Meyer and her husband Glen of Tyler, and Jean Lundberg of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother-in-law, Marvin Lundberg.
