Vivian continued to live on the farm for one year before moving into Jasper, Minnesota. On January 9, 1968, Vivian was united in marriage to Allen Houg at the Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jasper. After their marriage, they lived southeast of Jasper, on the Houg Family farm. They moved to various locations until finally settling in Ihlen, Minnesota. Vivian held several jobs until her retirement. On January 25, 2013, Vivian and Allen moved into the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she died on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 14 days.

Vivian was a member of the Methodist Church, Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jasper and most recently, First Lutheran Church in Pipestone.
