WAYNE LEROY GREEN was born November 21, 1953, to William and Anna Mae (Dreesen) Green in Luverne, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at the American Reform Church. In Wayne’s early years, he spent time on his grandparent’s farm, Ralph and Aalke (Groen) Dreesen, farming and working the fields. He also spent time with his Uncle Dick and Aunt Dolores Dreesen.
Wayne lived his entire life in Luverne. After many years helping on the farm, Wayne went to work as a truck driver and was known as “Gear Jammer”. He also worked for the Magnolia Steakhouse, The Star Herald, Culligan Water, Hills Stainless Steel, New Century Press, mowing lawns, and doing snow removal. He retired in 2019.
Wayne enjoyed watching Minnesota Twins Baseball, gambling, sitting at the bar visiting, and collecting pop cans /tabs for the Ronald McDonald House along with his daughter Deanna. Wayne passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 23, 2021 in Luverne at the age of 67 years, six months, and two days.
Wayne was well known around town and will be remembered for being known as “Brother Wayne” and always saying, “Get er done” or “Put the lime in the coconut”.
Wayne is survived by daughter, Samantha (Jeremy) Diemert of Big Lake, Minnesota and their children, Jovi and Miles Diemert; son, Joshua (Brianna) Green of Big Lake; siblings, Verne (Janet) Green of Gregory, South Dakota, Roger (Marti) Green of Owatonna, Minnesota, Elnora Hemsath of Ossian, Iowa, Jerald (Evelyn) Green of Adrian, Minnesota, Bernard (Beth) Green of Bemidji, Minnesota, Orvin Green of Adrian, Charlotte Dammer of Rushmore, Minnesota, Denise Sprecher of Luverne, Reva Green of Luverne, and Roxanne (Terry Reisdorfer) Green of Luverne; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Deanna Green; parents, William and Anna Mae (Dreesen) Green; grandparents, Ralph and Aalke (Groen) Dreesen and Walter and Alva Mae (Cuyle) Green; sister, Darla Green; niece, Jennifer Green; nephew, Tim Hansen; brothers-in-law, Doug Sprecher, Daryl Dammer, and Duane Einck; and sister-in-law, Claudette Green.
