WILLIAM “BILL” URLICK was born to Leo and Helen (Titus) Urlick on December 20, 1945, in Austin, Minnesota. He graduated from Pacelli High School in 1964 and two years later graduated from the Austin Junior College. Bill was enlisted into the United States Army in 1967 and served during the Vietnam War. He was later honorably discharged from the Army in 1969. Bill moved to Albert Lea and began working as a Frito Lay salesman in 1972. On June 8, 1974, he was united in marriage with Marge Kuisle at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Stewartville, Minnesota. The couple was blessed with 2 beautiful children and 43 years of marriage. The family moved to Pipestone in 1979 where Bill began working for the Pipestone County Star as a salesman. In 1986, he began working for Sioux Valley Electric, until his retirement in January of 2008. In 2010, Bill was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. On July 13, 2016, Bill moved to the Good Samaritan Society of Pipestone where he resided until September 6, 2017, when he was admitted to the Pipestone County Medical Center. Bill was then moved to the Pipestone County Hospice House on September 11, 2017. Bill died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the age of 71 years, eight months, and 26 days.
Bill was a man of great faith. His love of the Lord and the Word were the most important things in his life. He also enjoyed traveling. He and Marge traveled often when Bill was well. They were fortunate enough to have family all over the country. They were even able to spend some time during the cold Minnesota winters in Arizona and Florida. Bill enjoyed spending time outside, whether it was going for a long walk or hitting the ball around the golf course. Family was so important to Bill. More than anything, he cherished the time he spent with his family.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marge; his children, Marie (Michael) LaRock of Pipestone and Lawrence “Larry” (Michele) Urlick of Terre Haute, Indiana; three grandchildren, Seth Gawerecki, Evan Gawerecki, and Joshua Urlick; siblings, Jim (Eunice) Urlick of Austin, Minnesota, Ann (Jerry) Cook of Rochester, Minnesota, and Larry Urlick of Trenton, New Jersey; and many other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; parent-in-laws; and sister-in-law, Virginia Urlick.
