WILLIAM BENJAMIN DAVIS was born on August 3, 1984 in Port Lavaca, Texas where he lived until June, 1987 when he moved with his family to Woodstock, Minnesota. He was raised in Woodstock and attended school in Edgerton, Minnesota. He served as the senior class president. After his graduation from Edgerton Public High School in 2002, he attended Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating in 2004. While there, he specialized in French Cuisine. After completing his education, he was selected as a chef at Disneyworld’s Cinderella Castle. He later worked as a chef at Joe’s Crab House. In 2005, he returned to Pipestone and began working for the Pipestone Systems. While working there, he met Shawna Palmer-Curry and they were united in marriage on November 16, 2006. Following their marriage, they lived in Pipestone until 2008 when they moved to Jasper, Minnesota. Shortly thereafter, Will became employed as a chef at Lange’s Caf in Pipestone. He also worked at Geyerman’s in Pipestone. In 2009, he enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard. Two years ago, his unit was activated and he served in Kuwait. Because of his love for cooking, he was looking forward to being the chef at a new restaurant that was opening soon in Worthington, Minnesota. On Friday, April 19, 2013, Will died unexpectedly at the age of 28 years, eight months and 17 days.
Will enjoyed attending Cornerstone Church in Pipestone with his granny Edna. He had a passion for working out and keeping his body physically fit through his daily weight lifting. He also loved oil painting, especially landscape scenery. He enjoyed singing, being the center of attention, and performing for everyone. He liked fishing, especially when he could take his children fishing at the Jasper quarry.
He is survived by his fiance, Kaila Meier of Edgerton, Minnesota, and her children Colin and Evan; Shawna and his three children, Mia, Leah, and William, II, of Jasper Minnesota; his mother, Jean Hoss of Pipestone, Minnesota; his father, Mike Hoss and his wife Sheri of Kenneth, Minnesota; three sisters, Jessica Potts and her husband Wallace of Box Elder, South Dakota, Kristyn Taber and her husband Sherman of Pipestone, Minnesota, Amber Skime of Pipestone, Minnesota; his grandmothers, Edna “Granny” Davis of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Betty “Honey” Palmer of Slayton, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Palmer, William “Pee Paw” Davis, Benjamin “Abuelito” Herrera, and Doris Hoss.
