William J. Lindquist

WILLIAM JEROME LINDQUIST was born on December 31, 1944 to William and Lillian (Pitkanen) Lindquist in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was raised and began his schooling in Mound on Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota. In 1959, the family moved to Cloquet, Minnesota where he graduated from high school in 1962. Upon graduation, William enlisted into the US Air Force and became an X-ray Technician. He was stationed in Hawaii for three years and then received an honorable discharge. While serving in Hawaii, he met his future bride. On May 19, 1967, William was united in marriage to Connie Neal in Hawaii. Shortly after, William became a mobile homes salesman in Riverside, California before transferring to Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania in 1974. Six years later, he moved back to Cloquet and bought a petroleum equipment business. Upon selling his successful business the early 2000s, he moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he eventually met Claire Ensz in 2005. Claire and Bill made a home together there for over a decade. In 2014, William was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy, a form of Parkinson’s Disease. In April of 2018, William moved to the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Luverne, Minnesota where on Monday, February 11, 2019 he died peacefully at the age of 74 years, one month and ten days.

William loved raising his children, racquetball, kayaking, surfing, hiking, camping, and traveling. William was known for putting people ahead of material things. He was always happy with what he had.

Left to keep his memory alive are his children, Mark (Brandy) Lindquist of Baxter, Minnesota and their twin girls, Loretta and Dorthea, and Shannon (Laura) Lindquist-Dulin of Hopkins, Minnesota and their two children, Seren and Kian; a brother, Bradley of Duluth, Minnesota, a sister, Valerie of Wheatridge, Colorado, and significant partner, Claire Ensz. He was preceded in death by his parents.
