WILLIAM "BILL" SNELLER was born on January 11, 1934 to Ed and Louina (Cleveringa) Sneller at home on the farm near Doon, Iowa. Bill was a true farmer from a very young age. As a boy he milked cows by hand. He stacked straw piles by a threshing machine as a young man. Growing up, he loved riding his black horse. The first automobile he purchased was black with a spotlight which shined like a diamond. He also enjoyed playing ball. In 1952, Bill graduated from Doon High School. On October 27, 1955, Bill was united in marriage to Adrianna Smit in Hull, Iowa where they lived for the first two years of their marriage. They then moved to a farm near Doon where they lived for about a year before settling on a farm near Kenneth, Minnesota. Bill raised hogs and cattle, milked cows and raised crops. In 1999, Bill and Adrianna moved into Luverne. In 2014, they became residents at Poplar Creek Assisted Living in Luverne. After struggling with health issues for several years, Bill moved to the Good Samaritan Society - Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. He was a resident for one month before he died peacefully on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the age of 87 years, 10 months, and 19 days.
Bill was a member of the American Reformed Church in Luverne. He previously served for many years as Elder, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher at the First Reformed Church in Edgerton, Minnesota. A special enjoyment for Bill was going bullhead fishing at night after he was done milking cows. Bill played cards well and often, especially Rook and Canasta, but he hated to lose. He will be remembered for being very outgoing as he talked to everyone. Bill was always on time, he never drank or smoked, and family values were important to him. Bill had a very strong faith. He went to church weekly, twice on Sundays. He was also a hard worker who had a strong work ethic. He always said, “Work won’t hurt you. Goofing around will.”. But he had a fun side, too, and loved to pull April Fool’s Day pranks up until his last days. More than anything, Bill loved his family and any chance he had to spend time with them, from visits on Sunday to family reunions – every moment together was important.
Bill is survived by his wife, Adrianna Sneller of Kenneth; three children, Myron (friend Iva) Sneller of Morris, Minnesota, Arlyn (Karen) Sneller of Kenneth, and Linda Coors of Gheen, Minnesota; 6 grandchildren, Chad, Angie (Eric), Robert (Angie), Steven (Lisa), Sara (Adam), and Jason; and 15 great-grandchildren, Amber, Sydney, Tyler, Jordon, Riley, Hannah, Nolan, Kayli, Rysley, Zackary, Kelsey, Johnny, Shelby, Tori, and Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters-in-law; and four nephews.
