Woodrow G. Faber

June 5, 1918 — November 1, 2014

WOODROW 'WOODY' FABER was born June 5, 1918 on a farm east of Lake Benton to Thorvald and Sophie Faber. Woody grew up in the Lake Benton area, attending country school and graduating from Lake Benton High School. He was a World War II veteran, serving two years in the Marines. He was a corporal in a machine gun platoon that participated in liberating the island of Okinawa.

Woody spent most of his working life as a parts man and salesman for two implement dealerships in Lake Benton. He also drove school bus for 32 years, and operated a small farm east of Lake Benton. He served as a volunteer fireman for 25 years and served as chief for two years. He was a member of the American Legion since 1946.

On April 18, 1954 Woody married Dolores Trautman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. They lived in Lake Benton for several years before moving to the farm east of town. After retiring they moved back into Lake Benton. As a member of St. John’s, he served on the church council for 24 years. During that time he served as treasurer, trustee, and secretary. He was also an active member of the Men’s Club.

Woody enjoyed playing cards and bowling. He spent countless hours working crossword puzzles, even into his 90s. He was an avid Minnesota Twins fan, but had a special fondness for the New York Yankees.

On Saturday, November 1, 2014 while at the nursing home in Hendricks, Minnesota, Woody went to be with his Lord at the age of 96.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores, of Hendricks; his son, Noel (Roni) of Bloomington, MN; grandchildren Alison (Ryan) Dotzenrod of Wyndmere, ND, and Nathan (Casey) Faber of San Diego, CA; great-grandchildren Samantha, Cody, and Luke Woodrow Dotzenrod; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Winifred Faber.

Blessed be his memory.
