ZACHERY MARK COWELL was born on January 21, 1992 to Tim and Heather (Bush) Cowell in Luverne, Minnesota, where he was raised and attended school. Zach grew up enjoying various motorsports and watersports. He loved to be busy and active. Zach was a genuinely kind and affectionate person. He always wore a smile and was willing to lend a hand. He recognized the goodness in others and could carry on a conversation with anybody. In 2011, he met the love of his life, Emily Klarenbeek. The couple was blessed with a sweet baby boy, Jayce Bradley, on July 29, 2016. Zach and Emily were united in marriage on October 7, 2017 at the American Reformed Church in Luverne. Emily and Jayce were Zach’s greatest joy. Zach began working for his Dad in his youth, starting with snow removal and eventually learning all aspects of the construction trade. He was a hard worker and willing to put in the extra hours to get a job done. In addition to working with his Dad at Cowell Construction, he helped out at Sells Farms and Hoff Farms. On April 4, 2013, he joined the Luverne Fire Department. Zach loved the comradery with the guys, the unity he felt at the Fire Department and serving his community. On November 4, 2018, Zach passed away at the age of 26 years, 9 months and 13 days.
In addition to the Luverne Fire Department, Zach was a member of the Eagles Club in Luverne. He enjoyed snowboarding, wakeboarding, riding dirt bike motorcycles and loved watching his brother, Riley, wrestle. He also loved being on the water and spending summer days on the boat and the kayaks. He was a talented woodworker and cook. Each Sunday he would try a new recipe for others to enjoy, often times utilizing his meat smoker. Zach lived his life to be a blessing to others. He wanted his family and friends to know that he loved them all.
